In Fall 2024, Poale Zedeck and Shaare Torah leadership began informal discussions on investigating unification between the two shuls. A steering committee was formed to drive the investigation of how a unified shul could operate. In early 2025, both shul boards were independently briefed about the unification exploration and the formal process began.
The steering committee sought the expertise of an external consultant to assist with the process. They chose David Weinberg (www.synagogueunification.com), who recently consulted with the unification of Temple Sinai and Rodef Sholom (link).
The effort was publicly announced to both congregations shortly before Pesach, 2025.
